House Fire Completely Destroys a Bel-Air Community Home in Lauderdale By The Sea, Injures 5 People and Two Dogs
A massive house fire destroyed a home on the 1600 block of Bel-Air Avenue in Lauderdale By The Sea. The house is completely uninhabitable and has been deemed a total loss.
Two occupants and their two dogs along with three firefighters were injured in the fire. The couple escaped the fire but were taken to the Jackson Memorial Hospital burn unit for treatment. The firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation and dehydration and are expected to be OK. The couple’s dogs are being treated at a local animal hospital for smoke inhalation. No update yet on the status of the couple’s injuries.
The kind and caring neighbors of the Bel-Air community offer their compassion and support to the couple who likely lost everything in the home. Hopefully the couple are safe and healing well, and can begin rebuilding soon.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Broward Sheriff’s Office violent crimes division are still investigating the fire.
